A; B; C : “GIGOLO” & “GIGOLETTE”, très rare couple de marionnettes provocantes de la maison LENCI représentant des personnages portant la cigarette aux lèvres, caricaturant les « titis parisiens » et le type de certains artistes de Montmartre et de Montparnasse dans les années 1920/25. Le couple se compose d'un personnage masculin et d'un personnage féminin aux visages expressifs et avec membres et corps en bois recouvert de feutrine, visage caractérisé avec cigarette dans la bouche. Belle animation. Etat d'origine. H 38 cm.(seront vendus séparément) (circa 1925) Gigolo  and Gigolette, marionette, 1930/35 This very famous couple of characters is one of the most appreciated from the Lenci collectors for the charming expression of their faces. They both are imaged in the act of smoking with the cigarette on their mouth, cigarette that in the old catalogues we can see on the doll Mimì too(1923 n°. 553), feature of very free woman in the 20ies. In these two marionette the prevailing colours are black/white and red , choice that gives a very specific chromatic impact. Their dresses are in taffetas and cotton but both wigs and accessories ( hat, tie, flowers) are in Lenci felt. (They will be sold separately)
