LOUIS XIV [Saint-Germain-en-Laye, 1638 - Versailles, 1715], king of France. Set of two signed pieces: - Letter signed "Louis" secretary, addressed to the Cardinal d'Estrée. Versailles, August 21, 17033 pages in folio. Political letter on the war of succession of Spain. The cardinal d'Estrée was the French embassador in Madrid, and Louis XIV was worried to see Europe coalesce against him when he wanted to impose his grandson Philippe II on the Spanish throne. - Letter signed "Louis" secretary. November 29, 1702, 1 page folio. The king orders the release of the Count of Albert. "The reasons which had obliged us to make him retain in prison having ceased".
