KROPOTKINE Piotr Alexeïevitch, prince (in... - Lot 115 - Varenne Enchères
KROPOTKINE Piotr Alexeïevitch, prince (in Russian : ???? ?????????? ?????????) [Moscow, 1842 - Dmitrov, 1921], Russian revolutionary and anarchist. Autograph letter signed, addressed to the publisher Stock. Viola, Bromley, Kent, February 10, 1905; 3 1/2 pages in-8°, in French. He thanks his friend for the letter and the 500 francs he received. And gives him bad news about his health: "It is nearly two months since the left lung seems in no hurry to recover. I hope, however, that it will be better in a few days". Referring to the popular movement that had started in Russia in January 1905, he wrote: "One always lives on hope, and it is useless to tell you that this popular movement in Russia, which by one leap is ahead of all the parties - so learned and so serious - awakens in us the best hopes". It is known that it is in July of this same year 1905 that the famous Potemkin rebellion took place.
