HENRIETTE MARIE DE FRANCE [, ], Queen Consort of England. Autograph letter signed addressed to Cardinal de Richelieu. February 2, 1626; 1 page in-4°. Letter concerning Daniel de La Mothe Duplessis Houdancourt, bishop of Mende and first chaplain to the queen, one month before the marriage of Henrietta and Charles I at Wesminster. He was part of the retinue that accompanied the queen to England in the early summer of 1625. During the negotiations for the religious marriage, it was at one time discussed that he would be the one to crown the queen, which was refused by the royal court. "My cousin, I have received many testimonies of your good will but I still desire one which is of importance to me, that you make sure that Mr. Bishop of Mende returns soon [...] so dignified [...] from him and I I do not [...] to the affairs I have and which may come to me [...] that I [...] to you [...] as soon as it is possible for me to prove [...] his return as soon as possible and you will oblige me very much I promise myself XX from you as you can assure yourself of the affection and good will of [...] Your very good cousin Henriette ".
