BRETEUIL Henry Le Tonnellier de [, 1848 -... - Lot 24 - Varenne Enchères
BRETEUIL Henry Le Tonnellier de [, 1848 - , 1916], French politician. Autograph letter signed, addressed to M. Perronet. Saint Cloud, 17 May 1779, 1 page in-4°. "I believe I must inform you Sir to remind you that there are two wooden arches of the bridge of St. Cloud that I was assured are very bad as the King passed there a short time ago that our princes pass there every day and that it is an infinitely essential passage to make them safe, if you want to see them by yourself I would be very comfortable to receive you at my place in St. Cloud where I am established and you will be able to see them. If you would like to see them for yourself, I would be very happy to receive you at my home in St. Cloud where I am established and to renew to you the assurances of the true and sincere attachment with which I have the honor of being Monsieur your very humble and obedient servant. Overprinted at the top is an autograph note from another person: "Pont de St.Cloud. Mr. l'abbé de Breteuil concerning the structural spans of the bridge of St. Cloud which he was told were in bad condition. Answered on May 19, 1779 that I mandated Mr. le Brun to go visit this bridge and to make the state of the repairs that it could be necessary to make there that I would also go to visit it after the feasts of Pentecost.
