A Large Automaton by Alexandre Alexandre... - Lot 156 - Varenne Enchères
A Large Automaton by Alexandre Alexandre THEROUDE, a little known model, the Dwarf Oiseleur. Large automaton on a wooden base in the spirit of those of Jacques de Vaucanson representing a court dwarf in 17th century ceremonial clothes with a grotesque dwarf's face, with animation of the head, lips and eyes and holding in his right hand a flute that he brings to his mouth by lifting his arm and then waving his fingers. A flute tune and a bird song. With his left hand he holds an open cage through which a bird has escaped and which is standing on his left shoulder and whistling while trying to imitate the sound of the flute, he moves his head and his beak. Of an exceptional size (1,90m) realized by the fantastic and prolix inventor Alexandre Nicolas THEROUDE, the oldest of the professional automatists of the first half of the XIXth century (1866) it is the second of the big automatons of this manufacturer with the " flute player " life size known of this manufacturer. Double mechanism in the base in perfect working order and stop button typical of the house THEROUDE Vidéo : https://youtu.be/LznMaNjHw1M   EXPERT : FRANCOIS THEIMER TEL : Tél (33) 3 86 74 31 76 4 rue des Cavaliers 89130 TOUCY email :francois.theimer@wanadoo.fr WEBSITE : www.theimer.fr
