An important ormolu and patinated bronze... - Lot 182 - Varenne Enchères
An important ormolu and patinated bronze "elephant" HANGER. The movement, inscribed in a cylinder decorated with rocaille foliage and flowers, is placed on the back of the elephant, trunk raised. Rectangular base with stepped rounded sides, fluted pilasters and openwork lattices. Enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals and plate signed Fortin in Paris. Transitional period Louis XV / Louis XVI. (Small accidents to the enamel of the dial) H. 57,5 x W. 34 x D. 24 cm Augustin Fortin (father), received master in 1726 and Michel Fortin (son), received master in Paris in 1743 work in Paris rue de la Harpe.
